Sunrise Shadows

This is the third cottontail painting in the series.  It was painted from a photo reference I took during a plein air painting day at the Oxbow Overlook here in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The Chamisa rabbitbrush bushes were just starting to bloom in September.  The little cottontail was observing me while the sun was rising over the Sandia Mountains and there was lots of shadows being cast on the desert floor of the mesa overlooking the Rio Grande river below.
