In the south valley of Albuquerque there are ancient farm lands where the original inhabitants of this land used acequia's to bring water to their crops in the valley.  This practice is an ancient method that was first used in the middle east and brought to America with the Spanish settler's, hundreds of years ago.  They are still vital to growing crops and livestock in the south valley today.  The ancient Cottonwood trees provided a great backdrop for the acequia.
